A gravel spit is normally put around the border of your property or between a boundary to help water disperse naturally and the property breathe. If you have concrete strait up to your property the chances are at some point damp problems will occur as the water will sit and be trapped in between your property and the concrete.
French Drain is similar to gravel spit, it has a perforated land drain pipe used to direct your surface water away into a drain or soak away. It can be hidden with decorative stone or out of sight.
When we are installing a new terrace / patio, we can replace the existing man hole for a cover that is more complementary. Some can be quite un attractive and this way your eye is less likely to be drawn to it.
A Soak Away is where rain water from a down pipe is needed to be piped away from the property into 1 or more plastic creates depending on collection surface area from the roof. It is then wrapped in a membrane water can penetrate through and pea shingle surrounds the wrapped crate. Often needing to be 5 meters away from the property, this then helps the water disperse into the surrounding ground without causing problems to your property.
If you find your Drainage is struggling to move the volume of water away from the property we can investigate further. We sometimes find when doing a job, i.e. installing a new terrace the original pipe work or flow has to be slightly altered and or new soak away installed. If this is needed to be done we will take detailed pictures and show you our findings. Then to work with you and go forwards with the best solution.
We can install new waste and mains water to other buildings or garage conversions. We have the equipment to ensure you get the correct fall, install rodding points so you are safe in the future.
First mapped out the worst areas that needed attention, cut out the existing concrete around the connecting pipe to the down pipe hopper. Connected a new osmo 110mm pipe so it cleared the new concrete when poured, then the 80mm perforated land drain pipe could be connected to the osmo. Total of 4 trenches were dug for the land drainage pipe to go in which was 23 meters worth. All the levels were checked to make sure the correct fall back to the osmo drain then 10mm shingle put all around the pipe to aid water absorption, then the hard core car park surface could then be put back on top and whacked down.
